This TR250 was originally delivered new to Leyland Motor Company in Los Angeles in Valencia Blue, with wire wheels, a black interior and a black soft top on the Surrey hardtop. Today, the car presents itself once again in precisely that same stylish configuration. The combination of deep Valencia Blue with the black interior and black hood gives the car a timeless, sporty appearance. At the front, two period-correct Cibié driving lights have been fitted, giving the car a subtle rally-inspired look without compromising its elegance. The current owner, a passionate enthusiast who spent his entire professional life as a skilled craftsman in the bodywork trade, turned this car into his life’s work. The restoration was carried out with exceptional care, knowledge and dedication, and was fully completed in 2017. An extensive photo file is available for inspection with the car, clearly documenting the quality and scope of the work performed.
During the restoration, the car was thoroughly and professionally addressed. All possible corrosion was removed and the known weak points were properly resolved. The chassis was reinforced where necessary and subsequently galvanised, a measure that greatly benefits the long-term durability of the car. In addition, the entire car received a Dinitrol anti-corrosion treatment, ensuring optimal protection for the future.
The interior was, of course, also completely renewed. The seats were improved to offer better support and comfort, making this TR250 not only beautiful to look at, but also particularly enjoyable to drive. The result is a classic car that fully retains its authentic appearance, while offering far greater confidence and driving pleasure on the road.
After the restoration, the car was always stored indoors and only taken out in good weather. Since completion of the restoration, it has covered only around 4,500 kilometres, which immediately explains the exceptionally well-preserved condition in which this Triumph presents itself today.
The Triumph TR250 occupies a special place within the TR family. It combines the elegant body lines of the TR4/TR4A with the wonderful 2.5-litre six-cylinder engine that would later also define the character of the TR6. Thanks to its independent rear suspension, it drives more comfortably and more refined than the earlier TR models, while still retaining that pure, mechanical roadster feel. It is precisely this combination that makes the TR250 so appealing today: classic in appearance, smooth in performance and surprisingly usable on the road.
