1959 MGA – 30 Years of Driving Pleasure with Exceptional Documentation
Some classic cars tell their story not only through the way they look, but above all through the history they carry with them. This 1959 MGA is a particularly fine example.
The car is offered for sale on behalf of its Belgian owner, who purchased it in 1994 after it had been imported from California. Thanks to the dry Californian climate, the MGA provided an exceptionally sound and rust-free basis for a thorough restoration.
Shortly after purchasing the car, the owner started a complete restoration which took approximately two years. Both the bodywork and the mechanical components were comprehensively addressed, and the entire process was carefully documented. Invoices for parts and work carried out have been preserved.
What followed is perhaps even more important. The owner enjoyed the MGA for almost 30 years, using it regularly and creating countless memories with it. This was not a classic car that was restored and then simply stored away, but one that was driven, maintained and genuinely enjoyed.
Its history is documented in exceptional detail. For nearly three decades, the owner kept a meticulous logbook recording mileage, journeys, maintenance and work carried out on the car. Mechanically, the car has always been carefully maintained. It recently received a major service, the gearbox was partially overhauled, and a new clutch and water pump were fitted. As a result, it drives exactly as a good MGA should: light, pure and immensely enjoyable.
