Ferrari 348 GTB – 1993 – 13,236 km – Exceptional Pre-Production Example
Not simply a Ferrari 348 GTB, but a fascinating piece of Ferrari history.
This car was already built in May 1993 and first registered on 2 August 1993, several months before Ferrari officially presented the 348 GTB and GTS to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in October 1993. In other words, its first owner was already driving a Ferrari with the technical and visual specifications of the later GTB before that version had even been officially unveiled. Remarkably, the car still discreetly carried the 348 TB badge on the rear.
It is precisely this combination that makes this example so exceptional.
Several details confirm that the car was already built to the new GTB specification: the more powerful F119H 3.4-litre V8 producing 320 hp, body-coloured bumpers and side sills, revised front grille, aluminium pedals and several updated interior and engine details. Yet certain original documents and badges still refer to the earlier 348 TB.
This makes it a fascinating transitional Ferrari from a period when Maranello was clearly already one step ahead of what had officially been revealed to the public. The car was fully inspected by Ferrari during the preparation of its Red Book, and all components were confirmed as original to the car.
Only 13,236 km and exceptionally original
Its second major strength is its condition and originality.
Finished in Rosso Corsa 300/12, this Ferrari has covered only 13,236 km from new. It was originally delivered in Germany and came to Belgium in 2014. At its Belgian inspection that year, the recorded mileage was just 12,557 km.
The body still retains its original factory paint, while the black leather interior, underside, engine bay, suspension and mechanical components have all been exceptionally well preserved in original condition. The independent valuation report rates the chassis, bodywork, mechanical condition, interior and overall condition consistently as condition 1-. The original engine was also confirmed by its engine number.
Behind the occupants sits the naturally aspirated 3,405 cc V8 producing 320 hp, combined with a five-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. Pure 1990s Ferrari: a low seating position, an open-gate manual gearbox, no turbochargers and a naturally aspirated V8 directly behind you.
Only around 250 examples of the later 348 GTB were produced, compared with almost 2,900 examples of the original 348 TB. Even within that already limited production run, however, this very early car occupies a particularly special position.
